Writing Matters Conference
Writing with Hope
Saturday, October 16, 2021

The Seven Valleys Writing Project will host Writing Matters on October 16, 2021 in Corey Union, SUNY Cortland.

The keynote speaker will be Nicole Sieben, author of Writing Hope Strategies

All presenters are regional teachers who successfully use writing to help kids learn.
Proposal from teachers due September 15, 2021.

We always teach writing with hope: We hope that students will communicate, surprise themselves, pass the test, sometimes just put words down on the page.

Writing’s unique relationship to learning can emerge in any class.

This year’s Writing Matters conference at SUNY Cortland sponsors interactive, writing-rich sessions that explore how we can: connect to a class through writing,
make this crucial year’s education matter, and help students to find their voice and a purpose for writing beyond the grade.

How to Participate
You can propose to share an interactive, writing-based lesson or a panel session.
Attend and simply participate in the workshops and panels on effective ways to use writing.
